This November, we hope you will join the Association of Independent Hospitality Professionals (AIHP) in participating in B&Bs for Vets. Kathleen Panek, owner of the Gillum House in West Virginia, launched the B&Bs for Vets program in 2008 as a way to thank our veterans for their service. This is the tenth year for the program, and we’re excited to offer all innkeepers the opportunity to participate.  There’s no fee to be a part of it.

We are thankful to those of you that have been providing rooms to our Veterans on your own - even if you continue to participate on your own rather then through the B&Bs for Vets program - please let us know, so that we can keep an overall count on how many B&Bs participate.  It would really help us garner more PR for this fantastic program.

In keeping with the original program and Kathleen’s request, innkeepers are simply asked to give at least one room away to a deserving vet (no strings attached, no buy-one night/get one night) in order to participate in B&Bs for Vets. Many innkeepers will offer more than one room which is encouraged.

This year Veteran’s Day falls on a Saturday, but we believe the holiday will be recognized among those actively serving with a day off on Friday, November 10, 2017.  We are encouraging innkeepers to thank a veteran with a free stay at your inn/B&B on November 9, 10 and/or 11, 2017.  If those dates won’t work for you, feel free to offer other dates for free stays for vets.

A list of participating properties will be posted on To avoid the pitfalls of difficult forms and posting procedures, we’ve developed a simple list of questions to answer with your offer, inn description and photo, and contact information.

To participate, we ask you to email your offer and contact information along with one photo and a 250 character description of the inn to When your offer is live on the website, Deb will email you to let you know your offer is up.
